What do you do when you have a weakness for snacks, but want to eat healthy?
I love snacks! But I don’t like what additives, artificial colours and sugar do to my health. And most traditional snacks are full of these things. So what do you do?
The first time I tasted a Bliss Ball – full of healthy dried fruits and 85% dark chocolate packed with antioxidants – I was blown away! How could something so delicious, rich and sweet be healthy? It tasted like an expensive piece of filled chocolate, and it was a true eyeopener for me. This is when I started making my own healthy snacks. And now I never need candy, chips or other sugary or artificial snacks – my homemade healthy snacks are better than anything you can buy at the supermarket.
When we all scream for ice cream, I don’t go to the store to buy Ben & Jerry’s; I make “Nice Cream“. Delicious frozen youghurt style ice cream made from frozen bananas and berries. Brilliant! And when I feel like eating a candy bar, I make “Peanut Butter Cups” with coconut oil, cocoa and organic peanutbutter – all good stuff!
All my snacks are free from sugar, additives and artificial colours. I do not count calories, and my snacks are not diet food, but they are always made entirely from healthy, clean and nutritious ingredients. And they are always better than anything you can buy at the store. I aspire to help you learn to eat less treats from a box and more from the earth.
The Girl Behind the Snacks
My name is Liv, and I’m the girl behind the snacks. I’m also the girl in the pink shirt you will find on the front page. I have a love for making delicious snacks, but there are a few other things about me that has influenced my interest in a healthy lifestyle.
When I’m not in the kitchen making snacks, I’m on the track running hurdles and sprinting as fast as I can. Track and Field has been a big part of my life for many years, and will be for many years to come. I always keep a little snack in my bag to reward myself after training or a chocolaty protein bar for restitution. When you train a lot, it can be hard to eat enough at meals – snacks are really quite essential 😉
I live in the wonderful city Aarhus in Denmark, where I attend high school. I’ve lived in Denmark for most of my life, but I have also spent some years in the beautiful Switzerland where I lived with my family in Zürich. As you may know, Switzerland is known for its amazing chocolate, and I actually lived only 5 kilometres from one of the best chocolate factories in the world. And when you follow me and my life with snacks, you will know that I have a serious weakness for good, dark and healthy chocolate.
The final thing you should know about me, is actually quite relevant for this blog. I have an identical twin sister named Mai, and she is very good at taking photos. She takes all the photos for Snack Affairs – except of course the picture below, of the two of us together 🙂 I’m in the pink shirt, and Mai is in the grey.
Here I am enjoying a heavenly Blueberry and Vanilla Mini Cake, day dreaming about many new snacks to come.
Flot side for lækkermunde 🙂
